This Professional Certification aims to provide comprehensive training for the role of Head of Performance—a professional of increasing importance within football teams and clubs who requires cross-disciplinary knowledge of the various areas involved in the sport. Among other potential duties, the Head of Performance will need to develop the following competencies: Interdepartmental leadership, as they must coordinate different areas such as strength and conditioning (S&C), medical services (including medical care, physiotherapy, and rehabilitation), psychology, and data analysis. A methodological training strategy focused on performance enhancement and injury prevention. A club must establish a working philosophy that remains consistent regardless of changes in the coaching staff, while still supporting that staff. Therefore, it is essential to understand the fundamentals of technical and tactical aspects, as well as the specific preparation involved in on-field training. Optimal management of training load and post-match recovery. Load monitoring has become a critical factor for two main reasons: on one hand, it establishes the strategy for achieving optimal performance—both for the team as a whole and for the individual player; on the other, it limits the risk of injury associated with poor decisions regarding load parameters, thereby positively contributing to injury prevention. Medical and physiotherapeutic treatment of injured players. Injury management falls directly under the purview of a club’s doctors, physiotherapists, and osteopaths, each with their own specific role. This training introduces the Head of Performance to the necessary knowledge regarding hamstring injuries—which are highly prevalent in football—and the fundamentals of post-injury rehabilitation, encompassing the stages following initial treatment and the phases leading up to the player’s return to team training after fully recovering from the injury.
