This course is designed to provide comprehensive knowledge of the tendon, Achilles tendinopathy, and its management within the football context. The content is organized into two modules comprising a total of four conceptual axes.
The program initially focuses on establishing the foundations of tendon structure and tendinous pathology, analyzing the anatomy, structure, biomechanics, and physiology of the tendon, with a particular focus on the Achilles tendon. It then examines key characteristics of tendinopathy, including pain, sensory alterations, psychosocial factors, and explores the available tools for accurate diagnosis, evaluation, and monitoring of the condition.
The course then moves on to a more specific approach to Achilles tendinopathy, addressing both acute and advanced stages, with a focus on the application of exercise-based programs and load management, as well as the implementation of therapeutic education for athletes and the use of passive therapeutic techniques. Finally, it includes a section dedicated to identifying the challenges and opportunities specific to the football context, which must be considered when applying tendinopathy management strategies.
Taken together, this program aims to become a key resource for anyone interested in managing Achilles tendinopathy, offering tools and strategies for effective clinical and performance-oriented intervention.
