This training program aims to provide an integrated understanding of the function of the patellar tendon and its clinical and performance implications in football. Rather than adopting a purely local perspective, the course approaches the footballer as a whole, encouraging students to reflect critically before addressing this type of pathology.
The content is divided into two academically structured modules, which are interconnected to help students understand the continuous model being presented.
The first module examines the patellar tendon as a connective tissue, its organization within the body, and the degenerative processes associated with tendinopathy, including the different phases of the condition. After completing this module, students will have a solid framework for understanding the pathology, enabling them to select more precise and effective treatment strategies.
The second module focuses on the various approaches proposed for recovery, depending on the phase of the pathology, and includes a critical reflection on the roles of physiotherapists and strength and conditioning coaches in the prevention of this type of injury in football. The objective is to shift from a reactive to a proactive approach to athlete management, proposing a range of strategies to reduce the likelihood of patellar tendon injuries.
By the end of this training, students will possess theoretical and practical knowledge that will enable them to effectively manage patellar tendon injuries in football and to anticipate potential pathologies, thereby minimizing their impact on player performance.
