This program provides a comprehensive introduction to the understanding of injuries in football. Its purpose is twofold:
To enable specialized professionals in injury treatment and prevention to rapidly update their knowledge.
To provide professionals from other areas of football-related sciences with the necessary foundations to inform decision-making within sports institutions, such as clubs, academies, and federations.
The program is structured into four conceptual axes. The first axis focuses on the understanding of injury in football, examining its significance within the context of an invasive sport characterized by opponents, shared space, high coordinative demands, and maximum temporal constraints. This section also covers injury recording and reporting systems.
The second axis addresses the basic factors underlying injury risk, describing key characteristics such as injury severity and contact vs. non-contact mechanisms, among others. The third axis analyzes the most common types of injuries, grouping them according to the affected musculoskeletal structures and specific frequent injuries, with concise descriptions of their main characteristics. This serves as a foundational overview, while more detailed, injury-specific content is addressed in other specialized courses within the platform.
Finally, the fourth axis introduces technological and diagnostic methods used in injury management, and provides a basic overview of treatment principles for specific injuries with high incidence in football players.
