This Specialized Course is the first in a two-part series focused on hamstring injuries in football players. The decision to divide this topic into two consecutive courses reflects the high relevance of these injuries in football. Each course is structured around two conceptual axes, completing the four conceptual axes that form the standard structure of our programs.

Hamstring injuries are among the most frequent muscular injuries in high-performance sports, particularly in disciplines characterized by explosive movements, high-intensity accelerations, and decelerations, such as professional football. Accurate clinical and ultrasound-based management of these injuries requires a thorough knowledge of functional anatomy, a deep understanding of the biomechanics involved in injury mechanisms, and technical mastery of musculoskeletal ultrasound, the diagnostic tool of choice for these pathologies.

The course offers a systematic, up-to-date, and clinically relevant approach, with its central focus on the integration of functional and pathological anatomy, paying special attention to anatomical variations and their implications for injury vulnerability, alongside high-precision ultrasound assessment, in order to optimize differential diagnosis and clinical decision-making.

The program includes a critical review of the descriptive and functional anatomy of the biceps femoris, semitendinosus, and semimembranosus, an in-depth exploration of the pathophysiology of hamstring injuries, ultrasound-based classification using contemporary criteria, and clinic–imaging correlation. Emphasis is placed on developing technical skills for standardized ultrasound examination of the posterior compartment, identifying injuries at different locations (insertional, proximal, myotendinous, and myofascial), and advancing the interpretation of findings for clinical application.

This training model enables participants to correlate clinical, anatomical, biomechanical, and ultrasound data, thereby increasing diagnostic accuracy and supporting therapeutic planning and longitudinal follow-up, all within a framework of current scientific evidence and applicability to high-performance sport.
