This Specialized Course provides sports professionals and health specialists with the knowledge and practical tools necessary to identify and nurture talent in young athletes. It focuses on creating innovative and supportive environments that foster sporting performance and the holistic development of football players. By integrating cutting-edge scientific research with practical applications, the program addresses the complexity of long-term athlete development in football. Participants will gain deeper insight into their players and develop a comprehensive understanding of the interaction between physical, technical, tactical, and psychosocial factors that contribute to sporting excellence in football.
The course places special emphasis on fostering creativity and individualization, enabling participants to design personalized developmental pathways for young athletes based on their unique needs and contexts. Participants will study skill acquisition methodologies, motor learning approaches, and contemporary models such as differential learning. They will also explore the influence of growth and biological maturation on performance and injury risk, while developing strategies to address biases and ensure equitable opportunities for athletes at different stages of development, as demonstrated by the bio-banding method.

Doctor en Ciencias del Deporte por la Universidad de Trás-os-Montes e Alto Douro (Portugal). Licenciado en Educación Física y Deporte por la misma universidad y Máster en Ciencias del Deporte por la Facultad de Deporte de la Universidad de Oporto. En el ámbito académico, ha colaborado con diversas universidades en departamentos de Ciencias del Deporte. Actualmente se desempeña como director del Departamento de Ciencias del Deporte, Ejercicio y Salud de la Universidad de Trás-os-Montes e Alto Douro (desde el curso académico 2021–2022) y como vicedirector del programa de Doctorado en Ciencias del Deporte de la misma institución. Anteriormente fue director del Máster en Análisis del Rendimiento Deportivo, desarrollado en consorcio con la Otto-von-Guericke University (Magdeburgo, Alemania) y la Lithuanian Sports University (Kaunas, Lituania). Es autor de numerosos artículos científicos, con líneas de investigación centradas en el desarrollo del talento deportivo, la toma de decisiones en deportes colectivos y la aplicación de tecnologías al análisis del rendimiento y al entrenamiento.
