This Professional Certification is designed to train physiotherapists and kinesiologists in the foundational therapeutic knowledge of football-related injuries, before advancing into the scientific and practical approaches to the most common and impactful types of injuries—joint, muscular, and tendinous.
The program begins with a comprehensive overview of injuries and their incidence in football, accompanied by training in player assessment and evaluation. It then introduces a cross-disciplinary and innovative perspective on various aspects of injury treatment.
Next, the certification focuses on the treatment of joint injuries in football, emphasizing the recovery continuum following ACL reconstruction, which represents the most significant case in terms of incidence, recurrence, and severity among football players.
It then addresses muscle injuries commonly sustained by footballers, such as hamstring (isquiosural) injuries, rectus femoris strains, and triceps surae injuries. These have been selected due to their high incidence and the considerable number of matches missed by players who suffer them.
Finally, following the same structure, the program offers specialized training on the treatment of chronic tendinous injuries in football—specifically those affecting the patellar tendon, Achilles tendon, and the pubic-adductor region. As with the previous group, these injuries were chosen for their high prevalence and their significant impact on player availability and performance.
This Professional Certification consists of 12 one-month courses, grouped into 4 three-month blocks. It grants— to those who meet the defined requirements— its corresponding online diploma, as well as the diplomas for the four “Expert Programs” that form part of it. The Professional Certification may be completed continuously or by blocks, according to the participant’s preference, with up to 24 consecutive months available to complete it from the time of enrollment.
